Jeffrey P. Kaplan, Ph.D.

Visit his website for further information

Dr. Kaplan teaches courses in English grammar, discourse-functional syntax, pragmatics, and language-and-law. His Ph.D is from the University of Pennsylvania, and he has a J.D. from the University of San Diego. He knew he would be a linguist when he was in seventh grade, when he asked his father what a person who studies words was called. His dad replied “philologist or etymologist,” proceeding to distinguish the latter from “entomologist,” a person who studies bugs. Besides linguistics, Dr. Kaplan loves running, basketball, studying biblical Hebrew, and the Pacific northwest.
